Description
This exceptional cuvée, created in 1964 as a tribute to the founder of the House, is the result of a blend of Grands Crus from the classified communes of the Montagne de Reims (Pinot Noir) and the Côte des Blancs (Chardonnay). The vinification, partly in traditional barrels, affirms the ample and generous character of a style directed towards a subtle and natural elegance.

Tasting | It is all the richness and subtlety of a complex and refreshing aromatic curve at the same time. Fine, intense notes of orchard fruits, combined with the characteristics of stone and nut fruits (lightly roasted flaked almonds, frangipane, candied tangerine peel) and underlined by the brightness of a floral persistence (acacia flower and rose petal). The balance of a tension achieved by the blossoming of the wine (fresh yellow raspberry, fresh quince, honeyed biscuits and lemon caviar) symbolised by the conduct of noble flavours (fresh fig, liquorice and cherry). A texture with a personality asserted by its chalky imprint as well as an incredible power, controlled by its low, totally integrated dosage. The rare complexity of the finish evolves into notes of toast and bergamot. This great vintage is deep, taut and mineral, characterised by an elegant vinosity, and will reveal the flavours of a beautiful lemon sole or a delicious milk-fed veal chop with chanterelles. |
