Description
A great Rosé Champagne must be made from grapes that have reached a good level of maturity, which is sometimes difficult to obtain in the Champagne climate. This is why Louis Roederer chose to invest in Cumières, where the shallow clay-limestone soils, benefiting from a full southern exposure to the light enhanced by the Marne River, allow a high phenolic maturity. Over the years, Louis Roederer has developed a way of making its rosé champagnes that is quite unique in Champagne. Called “infusion” in the House, it allows to extract the juicy and ripe side of the Pinot Noir while preserving a great freshness. Thus, some Chardonnay juice is poured into a Pinot Noir maceration, to ferment together and integrate perfectly

Tasting | A summery bouquet of fine intensity and aromatic freshness, combining ripe, juicy yellow fruit (vine peach), slightly tart red fruit (redcurrant) and citrus fruit (blood orange). On aeration, the wine reveals more jammy notes of red Roussillon apricot. On the palate, the attack is caressing, juicy and concentrated, but immediately followed by a saline, chalky freshness that makes the wine very voluptuous and delicate. Ripe, crunchy fruit (vine peach, nectarine) and citrus (lemon) give it a zesty, even slightly bitter flavour. The soft, delicate effervescence is perfectly blended into a velvety texture. The finish is salty, almost salty, with a hint of tannin and bitterness, and that incredible dryness of limestone that gives an impression of infinite length. |
