Description
Rigorous selection of grapes, vinification and maturation in small 228-litre oak barrels in accordance with tradition, and voluntary limitation of volumes. The other originality lies in the choice to avoid malolactic fermentation in order to respect the nature of the grapes and the personality of the terroir. It is the whole Alfred Gratien style that asserts itself in this great classic. The refined blend is dominated by the fruitiness of the Pinot Meunier combined with the elegance of the Chardonnay.

Tasting | Notes of biscuit, almond and apple are enhanced by hints of citrus, thyme and laurel when aired. Later, deeper notes of bread, quince, honey and fresh butter are perceived. The expression is worthy of the great Champagne bruts because it knows how to combine the freshness of the fruit, the spices of maturity and the "yeast" aromas linked to cellar ageing. The attack in the mouth is fresh. The wine is fluid, the effervescence petulant and the dosage is content to accompany the body of the wine. The frank acidity and chalky minerality highlight a silky and slightly warm texture. The finish is clean, lemony, slightly mineral (with a hint of salt) and quite long. It fades away, leaving the memory of a creamy sensation and the aroma of sponge cake. Its balance will allow it to be very well matched at the table. Perfect with salty, sweet or sour-sweet petit fours, as well as during your aperitif dinners. |
