Description
Pommery could not miss one of the greatest vintages of the Champagne region. One word to describe 2008: unhoped-for! Indeed, after a difficult summer, nature aligned its stars to allow us to bring in an exceptional harvest. Only from Grands Crus, with exceptional ageing potential, you have to wait to taste a Pommery vintage at its peak: the precise moment when all the components enter into harmony and when maturity, freshness and complexity come together.

Tasting | The nose shows the patina of the Pommery vintages: elegance, minerality, freshness. First of all, intense floral notes touch us: peony floats around hawthorn. The ripeness is expressed by notes of pear and fresh apricot. The great Pinot Noir wines are identified by notes of fresh crushed strawberries. The tasting is light and straightforward. A mineral structure fills the palate from the attack to the finish like a kind of backbone. Notes of acacia honey and mirabelle plum highlight the heart of the tasting. The finish is punctuated by a nice sweetness, marked by blood orange flavours. This wine will be the ideal partner for food and wine lovers as it will magnify the dishes with which it will be associated. Naturally rich and structured, it is best served with white meat, such as Bresse chicken. More daring combinations with pan-fried foie gras accompanied by a mirabelle plum chutney or with a black Périgord truffle risotto are particularly interesting. |
