Description
Known in her time as “the Grande Dame of Champagne”, Madame Clicquot was an avant-garde woman. When her husband died in 1805, she took over the reins of the House at the age of 27, at a time when women had no place in the business world. La Grande Dame is the perfect illustration of the House’s excellence. It is a perfect expression of the latter’s love for Pinot Noir which, since the 2008 vintage, represents more than 90% of the blend. It is the responsibility of the Cellar Master to glorify this grape and to find the right balance allowing it to express its refined, elegant, light, delicate, yet powerful character, with great firmness, incredible subtlety and a certain reserve.

Tasting | On the nose, initial notes of white flowers such as jasmine, honeysuckle and vine flowers are felt before opening up to fruitier nuances of apple, pear and peach. Some notes of fresh almond and frangipani complete the bouquet. On the palate, the wine reveals more complex aromas of dried apricot, hazelnut, honey and candy sugar. The silky textures give the wine its personality, elegance and character. The maturation allowed the wine to acquire depth and power. |
